   STEPHEN HILL

B.App Sc (Physiotherapy), PGD Manipulative Therapy

Stephen is a director and co-owner of Pittwater Physiotherapy and co-founded the practice as it is today in 1993. His emphasis on family and community-focused therapy has helped an innumerable number of locals and others to improve their wellbeing. He now enjoys treating the children of some of his earliest patients.

 

Stephen graduated with a Ba Science in Physiotherapy in 1980 and a post-graduate diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 1990. Working in the area of sports and manipulative physiotherapy, he has a strong interest in back and neck problems, acute and chronic lower limb injuries and acupuncture. His skill in this area was utilised as Club Physio for the Manly Warringah State League Soccer club and was an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Sports Group Committee for 3 years.

 

Stephen has also spent over 20 years as a clinical educator for physiotherapy students undergoing study at Sydney University, Catholic University and Notre Dame University.

 

He has achieved level 4 Clinical Pilates with DMA Pilates and has completed all available Mulligans Manual Therapy Courses, numerous muscle energy courses (lumbar/pelvic) region, as well as acupuncture and advanced cervical/thoracic/lumbar manipulation courses.

 

Away from physiotherapy, Stephen is an active patrolling member of Bilgola Surf Life Saving Club, with over 20 years service to the community. He is passionate about snow skiing and surfing.

   ALEXANDER WU APAM

B. App Sc (Physiotherapy)

Alex is a director and co-owner of Pittwater Physiotherapy. He completed his training at the University of Sydney and has been providing his professional physiotherapy services to the Northern Beaches community for the last 17 years. He is a clinical educator for physiotherapy students undergoing study at both Sydney University and Australian Catholic University and a certified State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) approved practitioner in NSW. He is also affiliated with Sports Medicine Australia and the Musculoskeletal, Sports and Business National Groups of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

 

Alex is a hands-on physiotherapist who practices the Maitland and Mulligan’s manipulative therapy and mobilisation techniques. He also treats with The McKenzie Method and integrates Muscle Energy Techniques and Myofascial Release while complementing his treatments with a variety of sports taping techniques, acupuncture or dry needling. Alex is a firm believer of injury prevention and will prescribe specific short- and long-term tailored exercise programs that are appropriately centred around his patients’ individual goals and needs to minimise the risk of re-injury.

 

In his 17 years of practice, Alex has treated people of all ages and walks of life. He has a wealth of clinical experience and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of acute or chronic, upper or lower limb musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. He has particular interest in treating difficult back and neck problems and having also worked with many orthopaedic specialists, surgeons and sports physicians on the Northern Beaches and Sydney abroad, he is highly skilled and experienced in rehabilitating soft tissue injuries, fractures and surgeries involving the shoulders, knees, ankles and feet.

 

Away from physiotherapy, Alex enjoys playing tennis and spending time with his family.

   RUBEN DONATO

B. Physiotherapy

Ruben joined our team at Pittwater Physiotherapy in April 2021 after graduating from the Australian Catholic University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy. Throughout his studies has completed his Lvl 1 sports trainer course with Sports Medicine Australia. Additionally, he has developed his manual and injury identification skills through multiple years of working with both Knox Grammar rugby union teams and CHS competitions.

 

Ruben has a passion in both sports based rehab and injury prevention measures for both the higher-end athletes and the weekend warriors. He utilises up to date evidenced based practice through applying a combination of hands on treatment along with patient specific exercise programs to benefit patients from all walks of life.

 

Ruben also has developed an interest in hands therapy through his placement at Sydney Hospital where he was able to interact with a vast array of injuries and conditions and build up a solid foundation for treatment and management.
 
Away from the physiotherapy world you will probably find Ruben somewhere outdoors, whether it’s the local sporting fields or beach “having a good time”.
